The Product

The project is a combination of hardware and software that will teach users about the cost benefits and evironmental impacts of choosing an electric or gas vehicle according to their driving habits. The user interacts with the model by playing a video game in which their decisions are mirrored on a physical small scale replica of San Diego’s city and highway.

The game is a "pick your own adventure" game where two users who are given the option to select one of several types of vehicles such as, gas, electric, or hybrid. The players will have to complete missions throughout the race while accumulating points based on their "on the spot" decisions.

The main goal of the game is for the driver to be as efficient as possible by saving money and conserving energy over a ten year period. While the user is making decisions in the game, in real life a miniature vehicle will be navigating through the model environment game board in coordination with the direction the user has given. The cars will be able to go from the central track, which will represent the city, to the outer track, representing the highway.
